Author Interview
What are the main themes of your book?
‘The Cult of Me’ tells the story of a man who has grown up with the ability to invade and influence people’s minds. It looks at how a man like that would turn into a monster. He then discovers he’s not as unique as he thought.
Who or what inspired your story?
John Milton’s ‘Paradise Lost’ is the inspiration for the trilogy, it asks some big questions and I had fun putting my own answers to them.
What do you like best about your primary characters?
Each character brings their own strength to the mix, the unnamed lead character is a man with no conscience, but I like writing about bad people who do good things for the wrong reasons. The Friar brings an educated man with faith, who always knows what needs to be done. And Hammond is the secure warrior, at peace with himself and the world and unruffled by the secret powers in the world around him.
What are their worst peculiarities?
The main character is quite simply evil, but sometimes you have to fight fire with fire.
How does your main character evolve?
He learns that despite his powers he is not the centre of the world and that there’s always somebody bigger and stronger around the corner.
What’s the principal message you want to send to your audience?
That the world is a fascinating place and that you should question what is around you. And sometimes, things are not what they seem.
What’s the nicest thing anyone has said about your book?
Where can we purchase it?
