He may own a Goth nightclub, but Tristan Stone avoids people—the darkness that surrounds them drains him. When he sees Maya for the first time, alone on the dance floor, a light surrounds her. He must discover who she is and what gives her power. He wants her, must have her.
Maya sees a man with haunting eyes watching her from the back of the club. She feels their connection, but thinks it’s merely physical attraction. Their passion ignites, overpowering them, and they must work together to understand their connection. The heat of their passion could send their world up in flames.
What are the main themes of your book?
One theme is the feeling of isolation or feeling alone in the world. Both Tristan and Maya have their own supernatural quirks, which makes them feel like freaks. Perhaps they are unlovable or unworthy of love. Yet these quirks are also what bring them together.
Who or what inspired your story?
Maya was a secondary character in my novella Smoldering Nights, where she was introduced as Nike’s firefighter friend who loved to go dancing in the underground Goth nightclub. She had such a spark to her that I had to write a book with her as the heroine. And once I started, she took off.
The image of Tristan as a dark, brooding figure in my nightclub came to me as the perfect counterpart to Maya’s dynamic personality. Once they began interacting, I didn’t want to stop writing the story, which is why they come back for a small part in book 3, Rock Me Tonight.
What do you like best about your primary characters?
To me they seem like real people. They make mistakes, they try to make decisions for others thinking they know what’s best, but that actually makes things worse.
What are their worst peculiarities?
Tristan has a tendency to brood and think he is not worthy of love. In trying to do what he feels is best for Maya, he actually makes things worse. Maya has a tendency to act without thinking of the consequences. When you put these two peculiarities together, the conflict is dynamic!
How does your main character evolve?
Maya learns to trust others with her secret, to try to think before she acts, and how to give up part of her independence to have a fulfilling relationship.
Tristan realizes his best intentions in deciding what’s best for others might not be what they want. He learns to accept Maya’s love and work on his gift rather than shunning it as a curse.
What’s the principal message you want to send to your audience?
We may all think we’re freaks, but there’s a perfect match for everyone.
What’s the nicest thing anyone has said about your books?
“If you are looking for a short story full of action and passion then pick up Smoldering Nights and get ready to be hooked on the series.” ~ Sizzling Hot Book Reviews.
“I enjoyed this paranormal romance story… I liked Nike, not only she is a firefighter, which makes her hero material, but she is also strong, intelligent, and is super confident… The love scenes between Michel and Nike are hot.” ~ Romance Studio.
“The writing has a smooth, seductive flow. I loved this slick, sizzling paranormal romance and its engaging characters. I highly recommend Fiery Nights.” ~ Cornelia Amiri, Author of the Dancing Vampires series.
“What I really loved about Smoldering Nights were the heroines: Nike and her friend Maya were some seriously badass women, fire fighters who jump in to help when an explosion rocks the club (caused by Michel’s Nightwalker enemies). Nike doesn’t shrink from the paranormal or from love, demanding answering from Michel as they’re on the run. Because of her strength, I fully believed their passion and her determination to help Michel overcome his past. Great characters and a great story” – Lena Loneson, Author of God of Ecstasy.
My sister, who is an avid reader and whose opinion I highly value, said this was her favorite book out of all that I had written. J
