August to Life by Max E. Stone

Published on Saturday, July 13, 2013 by

Around, around, and around they go. Where the blood stops?…Who knows?

A former red-head and present mother of three speaks from solitude from the bow of a yacht.

No one knows her, or her life except her children: above all her oldest son, Jonathan Warren, a seventeen-year-old high school football star with a tight lock on his life and mysteries not even those closest to him could guess.

When an accident nearly rips away his life, new classmate, neighbor, brunt of his abuse, and sole rescuer Lee Ann Johnson forces him to challenge everything he had ever been taught.

AUTHOR INTERVIEW

What are the main themes of your book?

The main theme of my book is chaos and order as well as the destruction and build-up of character.

Who or what inspired your story?

I began writing this story in my senior year of high school as a result of some discussions with a very diverse group of friends as well as a series of traumatic events. At the time, writing was the only way to deal with those things and keep me from a meltdown. What started off as catharsis turned into a story.

What do you like best about your primary characters?

I like them because they are flawed. They say what they want and they take me along for the ride. Like real people, they have their reasons for who they are and what they do, the good guys and the bad guys.

What are their worst peculiarities?

Whether they are the protagonists or antagonists, they don’t always think about the consequences of their actions or the other people that their actions affect. They can be selfish. Some of them are.

How does your main character evolve?

The main character, Jon Warren, evolves by threat of death. He is basically a bully with secrets from even his own mother, until a near-death accident. Then, he is forced to rethink everything, including his life and the person who saved it.

What’s the principal message you want to send to your audience?

Watch what you say and do, especially to others. One way or another, your actions and words will come back to you.

What’s the nicest thing anyone has said about your book?

“This author deserves much credit for crafting a story that will give you pause to consider where we are right now as a society in our thoughts over race, love and relationships between two people. Be ready for it, this story will stimulate your tear ducts.” -Tom Riddell, The Writer’s Lounge Blog Talk Radio

Where can we purchase it?

This story is available on Kbuuk.com for 50 cents and on Amazon.com for 0.99 cents. It also contains a preview to the next book in the Warren/Bennett/Johnson series called “The Bleeding.”
